    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

    ## **Instructions**
    **General Instructions for your Assignments:**
During Week 1 through Week 7 of this course, you will have a new assignment each week. You should create a new set of files for each assignment. During Weeks 1 through 7 you are NOT building on your previous assignment, like you did in WEBD121. Instead you are creating a new set of files for each assignment. However, make sure you save all of your files from each assignment because you will need them later for your Final Project. During Week 8, for your Final Project, you will create a Home Page with a navigation menu that uses JavaScript for drop-down sub-menus, which will link all of your previous assignments together, creating a comprehensive website that showcases all of your work this semester.
You must write the code files by hand for all assignments in this class. A simple text editor, such as Notepad or Notepad++ will suffice (or TextEdit on the Mac). DO NOT use GUI editors, such as FrontPage, Dreamweaver, etc. You must write the code for your web page files yourself. If you are using a PC, it is strongly recommended that you download the free [Notepad++](https://notepad-plus-plus.org/) text editor because it contains extra features which assist with debugging, such as line numbering and color coding of different elements of syntax. **Mac users** should use the TextEdit text editor that comes with the Mac OS. However, if you are a Mac user, make sure you set [TextEdit](https://www.tekrevue.com/tip/textedit-plain-text-mode/) to use Plain Text by default.
Make sure all of your web pages comply with the HTML 5 standards and CSS standards. DO NOT use obsolete HTML elements and attributes from previous versions of HTML. By including the HTML 5 DOCTYPE declaration in your webpages, and validating all of your [HTML files,](https://validator.w3.org/#validate_by_upload) you can be sure that your code complies with HTML 5. Also, make sure that your external style sheet (.css file) passes validation at the W3C [CSS Validation](https://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/#validate_by_upload) Service. Make sure you use the "Validate by File Upload" option (and NOT the "Validate by Direct Input" option), on both of these validators since this is the way your instructor will check your pages when grading your assignments.
    **Specific Instructions for Assignment 6:**
Perform all of the following steps to complete this assignment:
    1) Begin by creating a new file in your text editor and include all of the basic HTML code like you did in your previous assignments. Or you can simply make a copy of your HTML file from last week and name the new copy LastFirstAssignment6.html (where "Last" is your last name and "First" is your first name), but be careful not to overwrite your file from last week because you will need it again when you do your Final Project during Week 8.
    2) Make sure you change the contents of the <title> tag to "Assignment 6" (just the words – not the quotation marks) and make sure your full name is inside of the <h1> heading, just like in your previous assignments. Also, delete the contents of the <script> tag — everything between the <!– and //–> tags, if you created your new file by making a copy of your previous file, because you will be creating a brand new page with different JavaScript code for this assignment. Save your file.
    3) Upload this file to the HTML [validator](https://validator.w3.org/#validate_by_upload) to check for compliance with the HTML5 standards. Your file should pass validation. If you receive any errors or warnings, then go back through the previous steps of the assignment again until you have corrected all errors and your file passes validation.
    4) Create another new file in your text editor and save it as Assignment6.css or make a copy of last week's CSS file, being careful not to overwrite last week's file.
    5) In your CSS file, write code to set the background color of your page to #FFFFE6 and write code to center the h1 element. Save your CSS file.
    6) Access your webpage again in your browser and confirm that your page has a light yellow background and that the heading is centered. Upload your CSS file to the CSS validator to check for compliance with the CSS [standards](https://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/#validate_by_upload). Your file should pass validation. If you receive any errors or warnings, debug your CSS code until you have corrected all errors and your file passes validation.
    7) Open your Assignment 6 HTML file for editing. If you need a refresher on creating an HTML form, make sure you look at the Week 6 Lessons in the Lessons area of the classroom.
Create a form that contains text inputs for the user's first name and last name. Add an email input for the user's APUS email address. Add a select element that lists 5 school subjects and asks the user to choose their favorite subject. Make sure you have descriptive text before each input so that the user knows what they are supposed to enter or select for each input field.
Next, use JavaScript to validate each form input and print an alert message to the user for each field that fails validation. Write a function similar to the checkForm() function in Lab 10-5 that checks to make sure the user has not left any fields blank.
Note: Do not use the "required" keyword on your HTML form inputs. Although this is one way of requiring user's to complete certain form inputs, you are specifcially being asked to use JavaScript to validate your form inputs instead. Follow the code examples in your textbook for this.
    8) Use pattern matching to verify that the user has entered an APUS email address. Look at the example in the sections, "the email object" in Chapter 10.5 of your textbook for an example of how to code this.
    9) You may add any additional HTML, CSS, or JavaScript content that you wish, to practice more of the features that you have learned about in your online textbook, as long as all of your code files still pass validation. However, do not add anything to your files that would make them invalid according to the standards. You can confirm this by making sure your files still pass validation.
    10) Before submitting your assignment, validate your HTML and CSS files one last time at [Validation Service](https://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/#validate_by_upload) AND [W3C](https://validator.w3.org/#validate_by_upload), using the "Validate by File Upload" option. **Note: It is critical that you debug and fix ALL errors identified by the validator before submitting your assignments. Contact your instructor for assistance if you are having difficulty debugging and fixing your errors because it is imperative that all of your code files pass validation.**
    11) Create a zip archive containing all pages pertaining to your website (.html files, .css files, .js files, image files, etc). Make sure you maintain the necessary directory structure in your zip archive so that your webpages will refer correctly when unzipped. In other words, if your images are in a sub-folder, in relation to the folder containing your .html file, then you need to maintain that same directory structure in your zip archive, too, including the sub-folder. **Submit only the zip file for grading.**
    **Validation Requirements:**
    Before submitting your web site:
    1. Validate your HTML file at [W3C](https://validator.w3.org/#validate_by_upload), using the "Validate by File Upload" option, and fix any errors that the validator identifies before submitting your web site for grading.
    2. Validate your CSS file, using the " [Validate by File Upload](https://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/#validate_by_upload)" option, and fix any errors that the validator identifies before submitting your web site for grading.
**Note: It is critical that you debug and fix ALL errors identified by these two code validators before submitting your assignments. Contact your instructor for assistance if you are having difficulty debugging and fixing your errors because it is imperative that your code files pass validation.** Remember that valid JavaScript relies on a foundation of valid HTML and valid CSS to function as intended.
**Submission Instructions:** Create a zip file containing all files related to your web page (.html files, .css files, .js files, image files, etc). Make sure you maintain the necessary directory structure in your zip file so that your webpages will access correctly when unzipped. In other words, if your images are in a sub-folder on your computer, in relation to the folder containing your .html file, then you need to maintain that same directory structure in your zip file, too. Submit only the zip file for grading.

    ## **Instructions**
Presentation #2 has several parts. The main deliverable will be a video presentation which you will post in the Discussions area. You will also upload your PowerPoint and a copy of your video file in the Assignments area. Here is a breakdown of what you need to do:
    1) Create a PowerPoint presentation with at least 1 slide for each of the following:
    1. Title Slide (Name of your Information System, your name, course name, and your professor’s name)
    2. Purpose of the Information System (a brief refresher to help orient the viewer who may or may not have viewed your first presentation)
    3. Networking Components of Your Information System
    4. Communications Components of Your Information System
    5. Security Components of Your Information System
    6. Impact of the Information System on the Organization and/or Users of the System
    7. Competitive Analysis of the Information System
    8. Three Original Recommendations for Improving the Information System (At least 1 recommendation must be for improving something in the user interface and you must include at least one screenshot of the user interface, showing how it currently looks. Be sure to explain specifically what you would change on the user interface and how that would improve it). [This should be at least 3 slides – one per recommendation].
    9. References (list your references in APA format)
**Note 1:** You may reuse what you posted in any of the weekly discussions if appropriate for some of the above slides.
**Note 2:** The attached document contains additional guidelines for what to cover on each slide.
    2) After you have prepared your PowerPoint presentation, you will need to record a 7-10 minute video presentation. You can use any video / screen recording software that you already have on your computer. If you have a Zoom account, the “Record” function in Zoom, combined with the ability to share your screen (and thus display your PowerPoint) is very handy for making videos. If you don’t have screen recording software, you should be able to find and download a free screen recording program on the internet, such as the ones in this article ( [16 Best Free Video Recording Software [2023] (screencapture.com)](https://www.screencapture.com/blog/best-free-video-capture-software.html)).
    3) To record your presentation, you will need to share your screen and display your PowerPoint in Slide Show mode, and discuss the topics on each of the slides in your PowerPoint. Remember that it is best to put bullet points on your PowerPoint slides, and to explain and elaborate on them verbally as you are showing the slides (rather than putting paragraphs on the slides and reading them). You are not required to log into your information system to demonstrate the system live for this presentation. However, if you feel logging into the system to demonstrate any of the current features you are recommending changes to would be helpful, you are welcome to do so. If is up to you whether you feel embedding screenshots of the current features in your PowerPoint is adequate or whether logging in to demonstrate the current functionality would be better for your presentation.
**Note:** When choosing your information system, I advised you to stay away from systems that contain confidential or personal information. Be mindful when including screenshots, or demonstrating your information system live, to not display anything confidential or personal in your video.
    4) When you have finished recording your video, upload it to a post in the “Week 6 Presentations” thread in the Discussion area. Make sure you embed the video in the post itself, rather than just a link to an external hosting site like YouTube. APUS requires all work to be submitted and archived in the classroom.
    5) In the Assignments area, upload your PowerPoint and your video file to this assignment and submit it for grading.
    6) Return to the Discussion thread and view some of your classmates’ videos. Reply to at least two classmates, giving them feedback on their video and telling them what you learned from them.

**Directions for use of the Individual Evidence Summary Tool**

**Purpose:** Use this form to document and collate the results of the review and appraisal of each piece of evidence in preparation for evidence synthesis. The table headers indicate important elements of each article that will contribute to the synthesis process. The data in each cell should be complete enough that the other team members are able to gather all relevant information related to the evidence without having to go to each source article.

**See Chapter 11, Lessons from Practice, for examples of completed tools.**

    **Reviewer name(s):**

Record the member(s) of the team who are providing the information for each article. This will provide tracking if there are follow-up items or additional questions on an individual piece of evidence.

    **Article number:**

Assign a number to each piece of evidence included in the table. This organizes the individual evidence summary and provides an easy way to reference articles.

    **Author, date, and title:**

Record the last name of the first author of the article, the publication/communication date, and the title. This will help track articles throughout the literature search, screening, and review process. It is also helpful when someone has authored more than one publication included in the review.

    **Type of evidence:**

Indicate the type of evidence for each source. This should be descriptive of the study or project design (e.g., randomized control trial, meta-analysis, mixed methods, qualitative, systematic review, case study, literature review) and not simply the level on the evidence hierarchy.

    **Population, size, and setting:**

For research evidence, provide a quick view of the population, number of participants, and study location. For non-research evidence population refers to target audience, patient population, or profession. Non-research evidence may or may not have a sample size and/or location as found with research evidence.

    **Intervention:**

Record the intervention(s) implemented or discussed in the article. This should relate to the intervention or comparison elements of your PICO question.

**Findings that help answer the EBP question:**

List findings from the article that directly answer the EBP question. These should be succinct statements that provide enough information that the reader does not need to return to the original article. Avoid directly copying and pasting from the article.

    **Measures used**:

These are the measures and/or instruments (e.g., counts, rates, satisfaction surveys, validated tools, subscales) the authors used to determine the answer to the research question or the effectiveness of their intervention. Consider these measures as identified in the evidence for collection during implementation of the EBP team’s project.

    **Limitations:**

Provide the limitations of the evidence—both as listed by the authors as well as your assessment of any flaws or drawbacks. Consider the methodology, quality of reporting, and generalizability to the population of interest. Limitations should be apparent from the team’s appraisals using the Research and Non-Research Evidence Appraisal Tools (Appendices E and F). It can be helpful to consider the reasons an article did not receive a “high” quality rating because these reasons are limitations identified by the team.

    **Evidence level and quality:**

Using the Research and Non-Research Evidence Appraisal tools (Appendices E and F), record the level (I-V) and quality (A, B or C) of the evidence. When possible, at least two reviewers should determine the level and quality.

    **Notes to team:**

The team uses this section to keep track of items important to the EBP process not captured elsewhere on this tool. Consider items that will be helpful to have easy reference to when conducting the evidence synthesis.
