    **## Task1Scenario.docx**

    **Task 1 Scenario**

You have been hired as a digital marketing strategist at Kamelon, a fictional athletic apparel retailer available in North America and headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. Kamelon is known for its premium, high-quality athletic apparel for women and men. Some of its most profitable product categories include leggings, shorts, sweatpants, sweatshirts, and tank tops. Loyal customers speak highly of Kamelon products because of the products' unmatched style and durability.

You are the first employee at this company who is focused on applying digital marketing analytics principles and strategies. Even the manager has very little experience with digital marketing analytics. Therefore, you have been hired to make analytics recommendations once you have a better understanding of the current analytics processes.

Based on the company’s current analytics processes and your digital marketing expertise, you have determined that Kamelon is at Level 1: Basic on the Gartner analytics maturity model. The company has a significant opportunity for analytics improvement. The following paragraphs describe some of the most important analytics details you were able to find.

Your manager provided you with this list of current marketing technologies that the company uses: Excel, Constant Contact, Facebook Ads, Google Ads, WordPress, Google Tag Manager, and Google Trends.

Beyond the use of these marketing technologies, your manager explained how data are currently accessed and stored. Data are gathered by various employees in an ad hoc manner with no documented process. To access previously collected data, employees must carefully search through hundreds of unstandardized Excel files saved to the company’s shared file drive. Often, employees have found it is easiest to just regenerate or repull the data from the original source.

Your manager cannot find any data detailing the Kamelon consumer journey: common consumer triggers, likely competitive alternatives, most important attributes when comparing products, post-purchase feedback, etc.

In addition, your manager shared that the website is the main driver of sales and profit for Kamelon, and the company’s primary marketing goal is to “increase annual website sales by 20 percent by the end of this year (when compared to website sales from last year).”

Beyond this information, you realize that the following two frameworks (Exhibits A and B) will be helpful in bringing order and clarity to Kamelon’s analytics, and you will reference them in your recommendations.

As discussed in Unit 1, art is a uniquely human endeavor, so I must say that “people” make art. But art takes many forms, including painting, drawing, sculpture, dance, photography, graphic design, cooking, embroidery, pottery, etc. As humans, we are born with an innate ability to create art, which is manifested early in the child who draws on the wall with crayons, colors in a coloring book, sculpts figures with Play-Doh, or makes finger paintings for art class in school. A little girl who dresses up in her mother’s clothes and plays tea party is an example of a child exercising her creative imagination to express her experiences and view of the world through acting. Art starts to become acquired when the person grows from childhood into older childhood and adolescence; if he wants to pursue an artistic outlet, he must do something more “serious” or “meaningful” to be taken seriously as an artist. At this point, art becomes “hard” in the sense that it’s not something that just anyone can do.

In African cultures, the artisans who made masks (figure 1), bowls, or pottery were valued for their practical skills in meeting society's needs. In Western societies during the Middle Ages, artists were valued for their ability to paint murals, for example, that adorned cathedrals (decorative) and taught lessons from scripture (figure 2). In the modern world, artists are still valued for their ability to create decorative works of art. Still, the notion of art for art’s sake also seeks to exalt art and set it apart from any practical or didactic function (figure 3).

Who makes art? Do you think artists have innate ability or acquired skill (or both)? How do artist’s roles change with different cultural considerations? Support your answers with examples, and provide any links or images that help in your explanations.

    PART 2

Visual information is the key to social networking's popularity. From digital cameras to Blackberries and iPhones, taking pictures has become an everyday experience for most of us. Respond to the following questions.

    · How often do you take pictures?

    · What device do you usually use to take them?

    · How much attention do you devote to the composition, lighting, or arrangement of your pictures?

    · How do you use the images?

    · How can you improve your photos?
