![A person sitting at a desk with a computer and light bulbs above them Description automatically generated](https://www.sweetstudy.com/questions/wk-11-resp-health)Study without reflection is a waste of time, Reflection without study is dangerous.
    —Confucius (Clark, 2011).

Reflection of an experience, lesson learned, and/or importance of a role, demonstrates a clear understanding of process, comprehension, and expertise. Tania

**T** his course has shaped my understanding of nurse practitioners' (NPs) essential role in policy advocacy and politics. At the beginning of the course, I approached policy advocacy with some hesitation, unsure of how it directly connected to my daily practice as a psychiatric NP. However, I now see advocacy as an integral aspect of my professional identity, a powerful means to extend my care into the more extensive healthcare system. Through this course, I have realized that I am not just a clinician but also a change agent capable of influencing policies that directly impact my patients (Arabi et al., 2022).

One of the most significant lessons I have learned is the importance of using One of the most significant lessons I have learned is the importance of using evidence and clinical expertise as tools for advocacy. For example, I have encountered numerous patients on antipsychotic medications who are at risk of metabolic complications but lack access to adequate monitoring. These experiences have driven my passion for advocating for policies that mandate routine metabolic screening for patients receiving antipsychotic therapy. This course has given me the framework to use data and my clinical experiences to make a compelling case for policymakers, ensuring that patient safety remains a priority in mental health care (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2021).

The stigma surrounding mental health has always been a personal and The stigma surrounding mental health has always been a personal and professional challenge for me. I have seen how societal misconceptions and systemic barriers prevent patients from receiving the care they deserve. This course has inspired me to confront these issues through individual patient care and policy advocacy. For instance, I am now better equipped to advocate for community-based mental health resources that address the social determinants of health, such as housing stability and employment opportunities, which are critical to improving mental health outcomes (Kelly et al., 2022).

One of the most impactful aspects of this course was learning about the value of interdisciplinary collaboration in policy advocacy. In my practice, I often work alongside primary care providers, social workers, and other professionals, and I now see these relationships as essential to driving systemic change. For example, I recently collaborated with a social worker to address a patient’s housing instability, which significantly improved their mental health. This experience reinforced the importance of combining efforts to address patients' clinical and social needs through advocacy (Deschodt et al., 2021).

I am committed to staying engaged in policy advocacy as I move forward. This course has shown me the importance of participating in professional organizations and staying informed about legislative developments. I plan to mentor other psychiatric NPs in advocacy, encouraging them to use their unique perspectives to influence change. I now understand that advocacy is not just an additional responsibility but a moral and professional obligation to ensure that all patients, particularly those facing mental health challenges, receive equitable and comprehensive care.

    Looking Back to Look Forward

Challenges Faced and How I Overcame Them: Navigating the Complexities of DNP One of the most challenging aspects of this course was synthesizing Level 1 evidence into practical applications for evidence-based practice change. Finding systematic reviews and randomized controlled trials (RCTs) directly related to my area of focus. To address this challenge, I had to refine my search strategies, expand my database to CINAHL, PubMed, and Cochrane Library, and incorporate lower-level evidence, such as cohort studies, to support my findings. This process strengthened my ability to evaluate research and critically apply evidence where gaps exist.

    Identified Area for Improvement

I need to improve my ability to translate research into policy advocacy. While I understand evidence-based practice, creating policy proposals that fit institutional and legislative frameworks has been challenging. I plan to join organizations like the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) to gain insights into policy development. Additionally, I will attend health policy workshops to enhance my skills in linking research findings to healthcare policy changes.

**Key Takeaway:** The Transformative Power of Implementation Science One of my biggest takeaways was learning about implementation science—the structured process of integrating research into clinical practice and organizational change. Before this course, I was familiar with evidence-based

**practice. However, I had limited knowledge about theories and models that drive** implementation success, such as the Johns Hopkins Evidence-Based Practice (JHEBP) Model. Understanding the systematic translation of research into practice has shifted my perspective on how sustainable change occurs in healthcare.

Applying What I Have Learned in My Future Practice

As a DNP-prepared nurse, I plan to leverage what I have learned to drive organizational change and improve patient outcomes. I am committed to continuous learning. I will apply evidence-based implementation models to introduce new interventions in behavioral health and correctional settings, ensuring that research findings are effectively integrated into daily practice. I

I will mentor and educate nurses on evidence-based practice, promoting a culture of lifelong learning and continuous quality improvement. Lastly, I will use my growing advocacy skills to influence policy changes that enhance healthcare access for underserved populations, always seeking new knowledge and strategies to further my impact.

This course has been instrumental in refining my critical thinking, research translation, and leadership skills. I am grateful for its learning opportunities, positioning me to make a meaningful impact in nursing and healthcare reform. I carry forward the lessons learned with a sense of appreciation for the journey and a commitment to continuous improvement.

    · Review the learning resources for Week 11. Consider the role of the DNP-prepared nurse when it comes to advocating for or implementing a practice organization change or creating an organizational culture that embraces translation and application of evidence for quality improvement.

    · Reflect on your experiences in this course. Consider what challenged you the most. What areas for improvement have you identified?

    · Reflect on your experiences in this course. Consider what you learned that was totally new for you. What were your biggest takeaways, eye-openers, or revelations? Did you have any “aha” moments?

    · Think about your future professional practice as a DNP-prepared nurse. How do you plan to use what you have learned in thus course?

By Day 3 Of Week 11

**Post** the following related to your experiences in this course:

    · Describe something that was challenging for you. Explain why it was challenging and what you did about it. Be specific and provide examples.

    · Describe an area for improvement that you have identified. What are your plans to improve in this area? Be specific and provide examples.

    · Describe something you learned that was totally new for you or which you consider a key takeaway that you will use in the future. Be specific and provide examples.

    · Explain how you plan to use what you have learned in this course in your future professional practice as a DNP-prepared nurse.

**Read** a selection of your colleagues’ posts.

By Day 6 of Week 11

    **Respond** to at least
**two** of your colleagues, on different days, by offering suggestions or further insight related to the challenge they identified, the area for improvement they identified, the key takeaway they identified, and/or their plans for the future.

**Note:** Your responses should enrich the initial post by supporting and/or adding a fresh viewpoint and be constructive, enhancing the learning experience for all students.

**Return** to this Discussion in a few days to read the responses to your initial posting. Note what you have learned and/or any insights that you have gained because of your colleagues’ comments.

    Overview

To quickly recap, as the director of strategic planning, you are creating a new strategic planning proposal to help the company explore at least one new growth opportunity and increase its revenue or market share in the industry.

As you continue creating your proposal, in this assignment you will analyze your company’s
_external_ business environment and explain its influence on revenue or market share.

    Prompt

    Perform an
**external environment analysis** of your company to identify the company’s competitive environment and find an opportunity the company can utilize to grow its revenue or market share in the industry. Use resources such as the company website, which will have pertinent information including its most recent sustainability report, and other relevant sources to help complete this presentation.

Create a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation to show the results of your analysis. Use both on-slide text and narration or speaker notes in your PowerPoint slides to convey your information effectively. If narration is not possible, precise and extensive speaker notes should be used, while addressing all of the rubric elements in the presentation. For example, you can use brief bulleted lists summarizing the highlights of your analysis on the slides, and include more detailed explanations in your narration or speaker notes.

Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

    A.
**Competitors** (slide 1): Identify at least two of your company’s top competitors and explain how they compete with your company.

    B.
**Competitive advantages** (slides 2–7): Evaluate your company’s competitive advantages.

    i. Summarize the unique skill sets, products, location, and values of your company.

ii. Use Porter’s five forces to analyze your company’s competitiveness and growth potential in its industry. Assign a rating to your company for each of Porter’s five forces as very high (VH), high (H), low (L), or very low (VL). Justify your ratings.

    C.
**Area of opportunity** (slides 8–9): Identify one area of opportunity that will help your company increase its revenue or market share over the next five years. Explain how this opportunity can lead to an increase in revenue or market share.

    What to Submit

Create a PowerPoint presentation with on-slide text and narration or detailed speaker notes. Your presentation should be 9 to 12 slides in length. Include properly cited resources on the reference slide. Sources should be cited according to APA style 7

    Overview

In this module, you learned that you can’t be a leader without followers. Leadership, then, is a very personal process, and yet it is anything but a solitary process. Leading is ultimately about people. In this course, the journal will be used for reflection. This is a private conversation between you and your instructor, and you are encouraged to deeply explore the concepts presented.

    Prompt

Completing this assignment will give you some insight into how you can best motivate others to follow your vision as a leader.

Now, answer these questions from your perspective as a leader, considering the recommendations you have provided in the GROW model:

    ·
**Personal Reflection:** Why would others follow you as their leader? Explain.

    ·
**Impact:** How would you motivate them to pursue the vision you outline, not because you order them to do so, but because they want to do so enthusiastically on their own?

    ·
**Feedback:** Ask someone you trust and who can be objective, “What is my greatest asset as a leader?” In your journal, record the response and whether you agree or disagree and why.

    What to Submit

Submit a Word document using double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. This assignment should be 1 to 2 pages in length and include references cited in APA 7 format.

    **That Moment in My Life**

The moment I received that email, telling me I had been accepted into the program of my choice, felt like the culmination of everything I’d worked toward but never fully acknowledged until that very instant. The hustle and bustle of life faded away, and all I could focus on was the sudden realization that I was finally taking the step I had been holding back for so long. My future, once a distant thought, was now tangible, right within my grasp. For years, I hesitated, thinking the time wasn’t right, convincing myself that I wasn’t ready. But in that moment, everything clicked. It wasn’t just about going back to school; it was about proving something to myself: that I had the strength, the capability, and the resolve to keep pushing forward, no matter the obstacles.

This moment was a turning point a decision to rewrite the narrative I’d held onto for so long. Now, I see that the path I’ve chosen is more than just a career change. It’s a path of growth, resilience, and most importantly, self-belief. It’s about stepping into a future where my past struggles no longer define me but serve as stepping stones for the next phase. The journey ahead is not without its challenges, but for the first time, I feel truly equipped to face them head-on.

One of the goals I’ve set for myself throughout this career shift is to embrace the challenges and opportunities for growth that will come with it. It’s not just about securing a job or earning a degree though those are important milestones it’s about constantly evolving and improving, learning from every experience, and using those lessons to build a career that aligns with my passions and values. Whether it's honing my technical skills, expanding my professional network, or developing my leadership abilities, I’m committed to using each step as a chance to grow. The ability to adapt and push through difficulties has become a guiding principle for me as I move forward. With each challenge, I aim to develop a stronger sense of self and a clearer vision of what I want to achieve in both my personal and professional life.

To make this journey successful, I’ve identified several key skills I need to refine. Communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving are essential for navigating the complexities of my field. I’ve also come to realize that time management and organizational skills are critical in balancing the demands of academics, work, and personal life. Over the years, I’ve developed a foundation of these skills, but now it’s time to fine-tune them in order to maximize that impact. By focusing on these core competencies, I’m laying the groundwork for a successful transition and ensuring that I’m well-equipped to face the unknown challenges ahead. This journey is about more than just personal success; it’s about creating a career path that allows me to inspire others to take similar leaps, break free from self-doubt, and build a future that is entirely within their reach.

As I move forward, I’m reminded that this is just the beginning of a larger story. The foundation I’m building now will allow me to reach even greater goals in the future, ones I may not yet even be able to see. It’s not just about achieving success in the traditional sense it’s about creating a fulfilling life that I am proud of, one that reflects my values and my commitment to growth. Just as I made the decision to rewrite my story that Wednesday afternoon, I’m determined to continue rewriting it every day moving forward. And as I take this next step, I want to encourage others to do the same: to take that leap of faith, embrace change, and believe that they, too, are capable of rewriting their own stories, no matter where they are starting from.

General sources are best used within an essay’s introduction or conclusion. Follow the steps below in order:

    1.     Open your favorite search engine. Type in search words or phrases that tie in with your career path, goals, or social change. For example, you might type in “nursing and social change” (these are search words), or you might type in “how social work benefits society” (this is a search phrase).

**Note:** You completed the same process in this week’s discussion. If you found a good quote in
**Part B** of your post, feel free to add it to the paragraph of your essay where it fits best.

    2.     Find a quote which captures your attention.

    3.     Look carefully at your Week 3 Career Narrative Essay working draft. Find the paragraph where the quote fits best. Within the paragraph, place the quote where it most logically fits.
    Underline the quote.

    4.     Introduce the quote. Some common introductory phrases include “according to… the author states… she writes…” and so on. Never have a quote stand as a sentence by itself! Instead, include a sentence or phrase that prepares the reader for the quote.

    6.     Immediately follow the quote with an explanation of the message or main idea you want your reader to understand. Remember, we all interpret quotes differently, so think about why this quote is important, how you want your reader to interpret it, and how it supports the ideas you are making within the paragraph.

Now that you have found, analyzed, and incorporated evidence into your working draft, it is time to give proper credit to your sources. It is important that you understand all information from sources must be cited. This is called Academic Integrity, which is making sure that sources get credit for their ideas.

Create reference citations to acknowledge each source used in your paper. Follow the numbered steps below in order:

    1.     The first thing to figure out is what type of source you are citing. Does the information come from a newspaper article? Does it come from a Walden Library database? Did you find it online using a search engine, like Google? Is your source a webpage, TED Talk, journal article, book, magazine, newspaper, etc.?

    2.     For examples of how to cite different types of sources:

    3.     Create a reference citation for each of the three sources you quoted, summarized, and paraphrased from in your paper.

Paste your three reference citations into the template. Erase all of the other sample citations so that only your sources appear on the References page.

When finished, you will have a complete essay draft that is formatted according to APA guidelines.

Thinking about a healthy economic society.

    ### **Does business or the business community need governance beyond the market for its products and services and how it hires people? Some people argue that if people don't like a company as an employer they can leave. If they do not like a company as a supplier of goods and services, they can go elsewhere. In a so-called capitalist society companies are private so why should there be rules made on who they hire, how they produce, and what they produce as markets give the right answers. Do you agree or disagree and lay out your argument clearly.**
