What can I asset when talking about 2 topics highlighted dealing with unemployment?

    **files (1)**

    – ## UnemployementAssessesment.docx

    **## UnemployementAssessesment.docx**

A high unemployment rate in any economy is a symptom of dysfunctionality in the economy. People need income to be able to consume, and consumption leads to production, and production leads to a higher demand for labor (employment), so unemployment is a crucial macroeconomic issue that confronts all modern economies. A lower unemployment rate, however, is not the end of the problem. The type of employment and the price of labor (wages) must be sufficient for consumption (which is the major component of GDP) in the economy to be healthy. If wages are low or if the prices in the economy are high, consumption would be low and, thus, production and demand for labor would be low too. High unemployment rate, high part-time employment rate for economic reasons, low wages, and high inflation could have negative effects on economic growth.

    Assignment Description

In this assignment, you need to identify two specific issues related to unemployment. You will study their past trends, provide an overview of their current status, and provide solutions to overcome them. You will use data from the past 10 years, articles, experts' opinions, and government reports to draw a clear picture of unemployment issues.

Some unemployment-related issues you might consider include the following.

    · Unemployment rates for men

    · Unemployment rates among African Americans

    · Unemployment rates among Hispanics

    · Unemployment rates among Whites

    · Unemployment rates among Asians

    · Unemployment rate among workers with high school diploma

    · Unemployment rate among workers with less than a high school diploma

    · Unemployment rate in the medical industry

    · Unemployment rate in the high-tech industry

Your research needs to be structured with consistent and clear thoughts. It also needs to be supported by actual data. Your results need to be based on solid facts. Your conclusion and recommended solution need to be thorough and based on your findings and understanding of macroeconomic challenges and macroeconomic policies.

Body of the Case Study Paper (Five Sections, Required)

There are five sections to this Case Study (Introduction, Data, Analysis, Reflection, Solution). You must have five section headings in your paper because each section has its own marks/points (review Case Study Rubric document).

    Section 1: Introduction

The introduction needs to include the following.

    · Include a clear definition of unemployment and who is counted as unemployed by economists and government agencies. Define inflation and what causes unemployment and inflation in the economy to increase.

    · Briefly provide your understanding of the relationship between GDP growth and/or decline, high/low unemployment, and high/low inflation rates.

    · Include a brief description of the two unemployment-related issues that you are going to address in this paper and their importance. Basically, why do you think they are important to research and resolve?

    Section 2: Data

Obtain data from at least three credible sources (not Wikipedia). Use tables, graphs, and figures to support your argument. Sources must be cited. You can find the latest unemployment data at www.bls.gov (Bureau of Labor Statistics).

It is important to obtain your unemployment data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) website. Follow the

The Data section requires a total of four data pieces
(all pieces of data need to be for the past 10 years; a data piece could be a graph or a table):

    · Two general data pieces: GDP growth rate and unemployment rate

    · Two variable data pieces: Two specific unemployment rates based on your variable(s) (e.g., gender, race, education, etc.)

Data (graphs or tables) that must be provided in this section include the following:

**Important**: Review the Week 6 Guide to Obtaining Graphs for Data Section document for instructions for each of the following.

    ·
**GDP**: Graph that represents the 10-year period of GDP growth rate (percentage). This information is already available on the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) website.

    ·
**Unemployment**: Data that represents the 10-year period of unemployment rate (percentage), which could be obtained from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) website

    ·
**Two Unemployment-related Issues**: Data that represents the 10-year period about the two issues you are going to address. Provide one separate data set (graph or table) for each of the two issues, which could be obtained from the BLS website.

    Section 3: Analysis

This section needs to contain the following discussions based on the data that was gathered and your understanding of unemployment and GDP.

    ·
**Unemployment**: Discuss the trends of unemployment rates over the past 10 years and provide your objective analysis of the changes in unemployment rates and the current rates. Place extra emphasis on the periods where unemployment was either too high or too low. Also state the effect of the high and low rates on GDP.

    ·
**Two Unemployment-Related Issues**: Discuss the two unemployment-related issues you selected. Provide an overview of their trends and use facts to highlight the major changes in their trends and their current statuses. State the reason(s) why you believe these two issues represent a challenge for the economy.

Section 4: Reflection and Critical Thinking

Connect all the dots together by relating your previous analysis to other areas in the macroeconomy. Basically, you will link changes in overall unemployment, the two unemployment-related issues you selected, and GDP to one another. Explain how periods of economic decline (recessions) and periods of economic growth (expansion) affected unemployment rates.

    Section 5: Solution

    · State which macroeconomic policy (monetary policy or fiscal policy) might resolve the issues you highlighted previously, and state how this policy could be implemented and why it would solve these problems.

    · Finally, provide your own solution. Basically, answer the following question: What would you do to solve the macroeconomic issues you addressed if you were in charge of the U.S. economy? State why.

    References List (Required)

Use at least three professional sources to support your argument. The references need to be in APA format for the in-text citations and the references list.

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

Week 1 Chapter 1 Chapter 1: The Pay Model Discussion

Discussion 1: Pay Structures, Accountability, and Benefits Priorities

Compensation and benefits shape how employees see fairness, motivation, security, and their future with a company. Pay structure, benefits, incentive plans, and accountability policies work together. When they align, they build trust and strong performance. When they don't, they lead to dissatisfaction, turnover, and low morale.

    Answer the following:

Explain how internal pay structures can motivate or demotivate employees. Give an example from your own work experience, an organization you know, or a realistic scenario.

Discuss how clawback provisions support accountability and ethical behavior. How can fair clawback policies build trust within an organization? How can unclear or unfair policies damage it instead?

Of the three main benefit types (income protection, work/life balance, and allowances or perks), which matters most to you right now? Will that change over the next 20 years? Explain why.

**Health Inequities Among Low-Income Communities and People of Color in the United States**

Social justice problems may affect different populations in unique ways. Social workers need to know the issues that may come up in relation to these populations when trying to provide assistance and support to them. One of the social justice issues that exists in the United States is that of the health disparity between poor communities and racial minorities. These people tend to face problems accessing affordable health care, preventative measures, and quality care. Inequality results in adverse health consequences, more chronic illnesses, and unnecessary deaths (Ndugga et al., 2024). The issue of health inequality is affected by such factors as social, economic, and structural factors instead of just individual decisions. Social workers need to participate in the fight for equal access to care through advocacy and policymaking. Analysis of oppression, ethics, public policy, and advocacy gives insights into how to address health disparities.

**Forms and Mechanisms of Oppression and Discrimination**

Health inequities arise due to the system of oppression and discrimination that is prevalent since time immemorial. Structural inequities such as racism, poverty, unemployment, and disparity in health care services put at risk the well-being of economically underprivileged populations and minority groups. Minorities usually lack health care facilities like hospitals, primary care physicians, specialists, pharmacies, and mental health services in comparison with richer neighborhoods. Constraints to timely health care include limited health care access, difficulties in transportation, lack of health insurance, and poverty.

Discrimination occurs in the healthcare sector as well. Studies have shown that implicit bias impacts the impression of diagnosis, decision-making regarding treatment and pain management, and interaction with healthcare professionals for ethnic minorities (Job et al., 2024). Cultural diversity and communication barriers can also cause delays in treatment and low patient satisfaction.

The implications of these effects are many. According to the estimates by the U.S. Census Bureau in 2023, there are some 25.7 million people in the United States who lack health insurance (Tolbert et al., 2024). The rate of lack of insurance in Hispanic, Black, and lower socio-economic groups is much higher than among those in higher socioeconomic status and the white population. As per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), blacks have higher incidences of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke (Sells et al., 2023). Black women have three times the risk of death during pregnancy than white women. The consequences are dire for the family economics, disabilities, and mortality rate of the population groups. The impact on communities of health inequities on communities' productivity, education, and lives can be damaging.

**Ethical Problems Associated With Health Inequities**

The issue of inequities in health has important ethical implications for social work. Among the values promoted in the NASW Code of Ethics are social justice, dignity and worth of the person, service, integrity, and the value of human relationships. Social workers are ethically responsible for opposing discrimination, claiming equal access to services, and ensuring health policy proactively disseminates services to marginalized groups.

An ethical issue may include unequal healthcare provision depending on income level, race, or employment. Everybody has to receive good medical care irrespective of their socio-economic background. Furthermore, there is an ethical problem associated with existing obstacles in the system that keep disadvantaged groups from accessing preventive care, medicines, and other special services. These inequalities are contrary to the principles of fairness and respect for human rights. Another problem relates to the need for social workers to develop their skills in cultural competency and implicit bias. Social workers should know about different factors that influence the way they perform their work (National Association of Social Workers, 2025). Ethical practice calls for culturally responsive communication, respect for clients’ autonomy, and working with the individual and the community to create care plans.

The implications for practice are significant. Social workers can improve client outcomes by connecting individuals with community resources, assisting with insurance enrollment, advocating for culturally appropriate services, and addressing social determinants of health such as housing, food security, employment, and transportation. Ethical Advocacy boosts trust, improves health care access, and contributes to healthier communities.

    **Current Enacted Policies**

Various federal policies have been enacted to minimize health disparities in the United States. One of the significant laws enacted to improve health service accessibility is the Affordable Care Act (ACA), enacted in 2010. Some of the changes made by the Affordable Care Act include expansion of Medicaid to cover more people in states opting for the change, a ban on insurance discrimination based on existing medical conditions, promotion of preventive care, and Health Insurance Marketplaces (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2022).

The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 makes health coverage more affordable for low-income Americans and their families by increasing premium subsidies for ACA coverage (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2022). Additional subsidies and reduced Medicare prescription drug costs were further extended in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022. Medicaid, another key federal-state program, is health coverage for low-income individuals, children, pregnant women, older adults, and people with disabilities, and is also important. States that increased Medicaid eligibility have generally seen more gains in insurance rates than have states that failed to expand eligibility. Such policies remain in place, and their impact continues to improve health care access to the poor and disadvantaged and to reduce cost barriers to health care services.

    **Effectiveness of Current Policies**

Improvements in current policies provide greater access to insurance coverage and better access to preventive services, but there are significant gaps. Medicaid expansion has been associated with decreased uninsured status, increased preventive services use, better chronic disease management, and fewer unnecessary hospitalizations among low-income adults (Tolbert et al., 2026). Additional insurance expansion has also included increased availability of medications through the system and regular medical attention.

Nevertheless, the success of policies is inconsistent from state to state, as Medicaid extension is an optional policy. People living in non-expanding states may experience coverage gaps which restrict healthcare access. Coverage alone also cannot address disparities stemming from provider shortages, transportation, language barriers, or provider discrimination within the health care system. According to Hayre et al. (2026), policies on broader social determinants of health, in addition to policies on health financing, are required to reduce health inequities. Investments in education, the community, housing, employment, and health infrastructure are tied to long-term health outcomes. As a result, health inequalities that disproportionately affect low-income communities and people of color continue to be present and part of current policy.

    **Policy Impact and Constraints**

Currently, policies have enhanced health insurance coverage and increased access to preventive services for many among these vulnerable populations. Within recent changes, more people receive routine, chronic disease management, maternal and behavioral health services than before reform (Osmani, 2025). These enhancements have helped with early detection and control of many chronic diseases.

However, policy limitations exist as well. The eligibility rules for the Medicaid program differ depending on the state and, consequently, depending on geographic location. Provider shortages affect many individuals, particularly those living in rural and underdeveloped urban areas. Lower payments reduce the willingness of some medical institutions to treat Medicaid recipients. Another factor that affects healthcare eligibility is immigration status. Furthermore, factors such as administration issues, lack of transport options, lack of access to the Internet, and language barriers prevent eligible people from accessing healthcare services. These barriers make the policies ineffective as a whole and exacerbate inequities.

    **Comparison of Advocacy Methods**

Various types of advocacy can be used to deal with health inequalities. Advocacy through policies involves urging legislators to introduce new legislation aimed at ensuring insurance coverage, increased funding in healthcare, and protection from discrimination. Community organizing provides community members the opportunity to identify issues that impact them and to demand better health care services (Jimenez & Heller, 2025). The goal of health education is to increase awareness of health disparities and preventive strategies. Evidence-based policy development, research, and legislative engagement are supported through advocacy by social workers and health professionals.

These two approaches come with their pros and cons. Policy advocacy can lead to systemic, long-term change, and may require the cooperation of policymakers, as well as time to implement. Community organizing is useful because it helps to build trust and empower communities that could be affected but may lack the funds to act independently. Public education can make a difference for awareness but cannot address structural problems alone.

Further advancements require better collaboration between healthcare professionals, social workers, policymakers, and the community. Expanding culturally competent care, growing workforce diversity, better transport facilities, and better investment in disadvantaged areas will build on current efforts. These methods help to foster health equity by addressing the root cause of healthcare inequities.

    ### **Scenario:**

Kelly Mattison, a Computer Science college graduate, and Li Huang, an Interior Design college graduate, began Green Life Furniture together eleven years ago, selling customized office furniture to businesses.

Today, owners Kelly Mattison and Li Huang are excited about introducing a new home-use office furniture product line. They want to complete their marketing plan, but as their advisor, you pointed out that they jumped ahead, skipping an important step: understanding the target market.

As the proposed home-use office furniture product line is a consumer product, it will have a very different target market than their traditional office furniture. They quickly agree that they need more information to ensure the new market will be profitable.

They need market data to determine who would be the right target market for a line of sustainably sourced home-use office furniture and to decide what features and benefits best fit that market. Kelly and Li aren’t sure how to gather this market research, but you do.

You believe using a customer data vendor specializing in B2C data collection will provide efficient results. However, these vendors can be expensive, so getting the correct information from the results will be critical.
