    **## FineArtAnalysis-DeathonRidge.docx**

Death on Ridge Road (1935), an oil painting by Grant Wood, was inspired by a car accident involving one of Wood’s friends, poet Jay Sigmund. The car Sigmund was traveling in was clipped by a truck, causing the car to flip; Sigmund survived, but his writing hand was badly injured. Wood created the painting during the Great Depression, and it can be viewed not only as a tense scene on a roadway, but also as a critique of the U.S. economy at the time.

    DIRECTIONS

    1. Spend a quiet minute or two looking at the artwork. Then, describe what you see. What part stands out the most?

    2. Write two adjectives that describe the feeling, mood, or atmosphere created in this painting.

    3. What do you think happened right before this moment? What do you think is going to happen next?

    4. Choose a physical item in the scene, a color, or a lighting/weather element that catches your eye and explain a symbolic meaning that item/element could hold.

    5. Thinking about the subject matter, mood, and symbolic element/s you’ve noticed, what’s a reasonable message this painting delivers to the viewer?

    6. If you were asked by Wood’s representative to give this painting a new name, what name would you choose?
    **Explain your reasoning**.

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

Advanced pathophysiology is fundamental to a family nurse practitioner's (FNP) clinical practice. It provides a deeper understanding of disease processes at the molecular, cellular, and organ systems levels, which informs assessment, diagnosis, and management strategies. By applying advanced knowledge of pathophysiology, FNPs can more accurately interpret clinical data, anticipate complications, and provide comprehensive patient care.

One significant application is in the diagnostic process. A robust understanding of the disease

mechanisms allow the FNP to identify potential underlying causes of symptoms. For example, when a patient presents with shortness of breath and fatigue, the FNP can distinguish whether the symptoms related to heart failure, pulmonary disease, or anemia based on the pathophysiological mechanisms involved. Knowing how these conditions alter the body's functions, such as fluid retention in heart failure or impaired gas exchange in pulmonary disorders, is critical to selecting appropriate diagnostic tests and forming a differential diagnosis (Smith & Jones, 2020).

Advanced pathophysiology also aids in creating individualized treatment plans. With a deep understanding of the pathogenesis of chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and asthma, FNPs can choose pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions that align with the disease's underlying processes. For example, in diabetes management, understanding the mechanisms of insulin resistance and beta-cell dysfunction enables the FNP to recommend treatments targeting specific defects, such as metformin or insulin therapy (Johnson & Williams, 2021).

Furthermore, pathophysiology supports preventive care. Understanding how risk factors such as obesity or smoking contribute to conditions like cardiovascular disease or cancer allows FNPs to engage in proactive health promotion. By educating patients on lifestyle changes and early detection strategies, FNPs can help reduce the prevalence and severity of these diseases (Martinez & Thompson, 2022).

In conclusion, advanced pathophysiology enhances the FNP's clinical reasoning, diagnostic accuracy, and patient management. It empowers them to deliver evidence-based care that addresses the symptoms and underlying causes of disease, improving overall patient outcomes.

    Stress and Health
    The Biopsychosocial Model

    CLP4314 RVD 1251

    Krystel Bergher

    The Biopsychosocial Model

The biopsychosocial model was devised to counter the deficiencies of the biomedical model, which deals purely with physical health.

Three interrelating factors that determine health and illness:

Biological: physical responses, including cortisol release and suppression of the immune system.

Psychological: perceptions of stressors and coping mechanisms and emotional regulation.

Social: support mechanisms, demands of work, and socioeconomic position.

Stress will serve as an excellent example of how these might fit together.

    Biological Impact of Stress

Stress turns on the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. Cortisol release prepares the body for a fight or flight response.

Effects of chronic stress other long-term effects of the activation of the hpa axis include immune system suppression, inflammation, and the promotion of such chronic diseases as hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.

Example: Chronic stress in caregivers often leads to weakened immunity and increased vulnerability to sickness.

    Psychological Aspect of Stress

The psychological impact of stress depends largely on how individuals perceive and appraise stressful situations, with optimistic thinkers often managing stress better than those with negative patterns.

Coping mechanisms play a crucial role. positive strategies like mindfulness, relaxation, and cognitive-behavioral therapy can mitigate stress, while negative approaches such as avoidance or self-blame may exacerbate it.

Chronic stress can lead to serious mental health issues like anxiety, depression, and burnout; for instance, a student facing exam stress may spiral into worry if they catastrophize, but reframing techniques from CBT can help manage these thoughts effectively.

    Social Aspect of Stress

Role of social support is a strong relationship with friends, family, or coworkers reduce stress and promote resilience.

In workplace high-pressure environments, lack of control, and poor team dynamics exacerbate stress. Positive environments with social support reduce burnout.

Societal expectations and norms influence stress perception.

During the pandemic, people with strong social networks reported lower levels of stress and anxiety.

    Conclusion

The biopsychosocial model highlights the need to address stress holistically through biological, psychological, and social interventions.

Stress impacts health in complex ways, but targeted strategies can mitigate its effects.

Workplace stress management program by combining health checkups (biological), resilience training (psychological), and team-building activities (social).

Demonstrates measurable improvements in employee health and productivity.

By understanding stress from a biopsychosocial perspective, we can develop more effective interventions.

The different Christian traditions “give somewhat different answers of how we should go about the task of recapturing vocation. The streams are often confusing to Christians, for they are not perfectly complementary to one another” (Keller and Alsdorf, 2012, p. 21).

In these assignments, you will reflect on some of these sentiments that Keller and Alsdorf introduces in
_Every Good Endeavor_ and explore the ethical and legal foundations of their statements as they relate to business.

    **Instructions**

Your assignment should include two paragraphs: one consisting of a reflection, and one on the legal and ethical implications for business.

In your reflection, you will be asked to read a peer-reviewed article relate to the topic. Then you will reflect on the prompt from Keller and Alsdorfs’ book in light of this article. In your second paragraph, you will discuss the ethical and legal implications of Keller and Alsdorfs’ statement from a business perspective. You should reference one peer-reviewed source and your Keller and Alsdorf text. You should also follow APA formatting for in-text citations.

You will complete three different reflection assignments based on the following schedule and prompts:

    **Module 3: Week 3**

    For the
**Every Good Endeavor Reflection: Shareholder Theory & Biblical Perspectives of Generosity Assignment**, you will reflect on the following prompt:

“The way to serve God at work is to make as much money as you can, so that you can be as generous as you can.”

    **Module 5: Week 5**

    For the
**Every Good Endeavor Reflection: Stakeholder Theory & Social Justice Assignment**, you will reflect on the following prompt:

“The way to serve God at work is to further social justice in the world.”

    **Module 7: Week 7**

    For the
**Every Good Endeavor Reflection: Cultural Engagement Assignment**, you will reflect on the following prompt:

“The way to serve God is to work from a Christian motivation to glorify God, seeking to engage and influence culture to that end.”

Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.

    Experiment #4

    MEASUREMENT

We are all familiar with measurements which are expressed as the amount of one
thing for each unit of something else. For example, you may shop for meat sold at a certain
number of dollars per pound ($/lb), or you may compute the mileage of your automobile
in miles per gallon (miles/gallon). In this experiment, you will be asked to measure the
density of a liquid. The density of a substance is usually expressed in grams/mL or g/cm3

(grams/cubic centimeter). This experiment will introduce you to common measuring
devices found in the laboratory including the balance, graduated cylinder and buret, and
require you to exhibit knowledge of mathematical and computer concepts including
graphing, linear equations, slopes and intercepts.

    MASS MEASUREMENT

The balance is a laboratory device used to measure the mass of an object. One often
refers to this as "weighing" the object, but actually the mass rather than the weight of the
    object is being determined.

The balances in our lab have a precision of ±0.001 g for each measurement. This
precision determines the number of significant figures the measurement will contain.
Every measurement you make on the balance should be recorded to the third decimal place,
i.e. 27 .113 g. The balance has a capacity of 200 grams. Do not try to measure an object
that has a mass higher than 200 grams.

    PROCEDURE:

    1. Be sure you are wearing safety glasses at all times in the laboratory.

    2. Ask your instructor for an explanation of the operation of the balance if you
are uncertain how to use the balance.

    3. Mass an object on your person (watch, ring, coin, etc.). List the mass of
    that object here:

Be sure that your answer to the simple exercise above includes a unit. For example, if
you listed the number 27.113 for the mass of your ring, one could ask "Your ring has a
mass of 27.113 what? Pounds, ounces, kilograms?" The correct listing should be 27.113
    g, which is grams.

An annotated bibliography is a list of sources (books, journals, Web sites, periodicals, etc.) one has used for researching a topic (Annotated Bibliographies, 2020).

For all sources used in your Discussion forum (minimum of 5) you should:

    · Provide an APA formatted Citation (this should look like what you would include in a normal reference section.

    ·
**Summarize** the source and discuss the research study that was conducted and what the findings were.

    ·
**Assess** the source and discuss how useful it is and how it compares with other sources in your paper.

    ·
**Reflect** on how the source will be useful to you in your discussion. How does it help to shape your argument and how are you using it to shape your writing?

    **Annotated bibliography format**

Each annotation should look be formatted as follows:

    Author (year). Title of article.
_Title of Journal, Vol no_(issue). page number – page number. Doi number

A paragraph that includes a summary, assessment, and reflection of the source.

    **Example Annotation**

Coleman, R. & Donoher, W. (2022). Looking beyond the dyad: How transformational
leadership affects leader-member exchange quality and outcomes
    _. Journal of_
    _Leadership Studies, 15_(4), 6-17. https://doi.org/10.1002/jls.21792.

    **Instructions on constructing your paragraph**

In your summary, you will begin with a discussion of the research question the study is attempting to answer. You will summarize the research that was conducted and the specific findings that were uncovered. You will then provide a summary of what this means for the topic.

Next, you will discuss how the source compares with other sources in your paper and how useful is the source in attributing to your writing. You won’t use an in-text citation to reference the other source here. You should simply refer to the general topics the other sources are discussing and how this article fits with those.

Finally, you will discuss how the source is useful in your discussion. You will need to be specific on why it is important to use and exactly how you will use it in your writing to shape your arguments.

\* You should use current sources written in the last five years.

\* Do not use “I” in any of the annotations.

\* Do not include an outline, you only need your annotation and paragraph (which will cover, summarize, assess, and reflect).

Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.
