    Assignment 2

    Dear students,

This is your second assignment for this course that accounts for 50% of your total marks

    for the course.

All-Music has decided that the business model they adopted previously would not be

sustainable in the long term. They have concluded that managing a growing amount of

user generated content on their website would be very complicated with their small

team. All-Music's new business will be a reviewing site that will publish online reviews

of music, movies, and video games. All-Music has already hired a small staff of internal

writers to manage and publish content and will occasionally hire guest writers to

contribute and post reviews on their website. Your task as a Web Developer is to

configure and set-up the WordPress CMS environment that All-Music will be using.

The website will be renamed to all-reviews.com, you will develop it locally and you

will be given sample content to fill up the pages you create, but it is up to you to decide

the best way to structure and style the website.

    Below are the main requirements;

    • The following pages should be accessible site wide: home, contact us, movie

reviews, music reviews, video game reviews

    • Each review should include a star rating at the end (e.g. 1-5 stars)

    • Each review should have a picture (provided) with a click-able link that opens

    in a new tab

    • Sensible tagging of categories on pages

    • Install and enable an SEO plug-in that supports metadata and keywords (add

    tags to pages accordingly)

    • Install and enable your choice of a free security plug-in

    • Minimum 5 users with various roles and permissions (at least 1 admin with full

permissions and 1 with limited permissions)

    • Create either a guest login account or allow a guest to register an account with

    post only privileges

    • Chose/install a free theme and adjust its default styling settings (you must

maintain a consistent site wide styling)

    • Post a review with the guest or registered user

    • A search bar accessible site wide

    Other requirements

    UU-MBA-740-ZM Web Design and Development

    • Please add in line-comments to any HTML, JavaScript, PHP or CSS files you

    have manually edited

    Deliverables

Your work will be assessed according to how well you have met or attempted to meet

the above requirements. Try and focus on the usability and functionality of the website

    before visual design.

You will need to submit the following:

    1. A site map/diagram detailing how you decided to organize your pages (PDF or

    JPEG)

    2. The full contents of your WordPress site including your MYSQL database (see

Exporting WordPress database and files (Guide) for instructions)

    3. A PDF document with user names and passwords

*Please download the file mba_740_sam.zip and unzip its contents (Assignment 2

Toggle). You can use the text and images in the documents to populate your website

    Notes:

    • The assignment is your own individual work. I expect all sent assignments to

be very different from one another even if they are based on the same topic.

    Below are the main requirements;

    • A home page with a top/side navigation bar linking to all other pages of the site

Toggle). You can use the text and images in the documents to populate your website

    with content

    Notes:

    • The assignment is your own individual work. I expect all sent assignments to

be very different from one another even if they are based on the same topic.

    • The deadline is the end of week 7.

    • This is worth 50% of your mark

    **Case Study**

    **Purpose:**

Flexibility, adaptability, and responsiveness to the external environment is essential if organizations are going to survive and thrive in a rapidly changing environment. Therefore, leaders and managers must know how to

**organization's structure and culture, along with having the knowledge of how to implement change effectively.** The purpose of this project is to examine your understanding of the roles and skills of managers and to build a set of skills that will help you understand how to implement organizational change strategies. Using a case study, you will be asked to demonstrate how
    **motivation**,
    **relationship building**, and
**trust** affect organizational effectiveness as change is implemented.

**Step 1:** Carefully read the case study below.

    **Step 2:** Comprise a
**5-6 page paper** (excluding the title page and reference list page) that includes ALL of the following points:

    ·
    **Research** the
concepts of organizational structure and change management and use this as the basis for creating your change management plan.

    ·
    **Research** the
concepts of motivation, trust, and behavior as they individually, and collectively, relate to the ability for leaders to create sound management relationships that ultimately lead to successful organizations; and the
concepts of organizational structure and change managementas they relate to the creation and implementation of a global organizational structure.

relationship-building issues identified in the case study.

    ·
**Develop** a forward strategy for leadership and management that focuses on relationship building, diversity and trust that will help the organization implement these new strategies.

    ·
**Consider** change management and global organizational culture as you develop your plan.

    ·
**Explain** the reasoning/conclusions behind your plan elements and support them with your research, class materials, and case-study facts.

    **Case Study**

Ann McConnell is chief information officer (CIO) at Jackson Spice Ingredients (JSI), a large Maryland spice and food ingredient company. In an industry that has a large national market presence, yet is global in its need for raw materials, JSI is always looking for ways to increase productivity and speed things up while staying connected to its worldwide sources.  The mission of the organization is “to profitably expand its global leadership position in the spice, seasoning markets while being good stewards of the environment.”

Two years into the job, McConnell suggested to company president, Charles Jackson, that it implement a new global organizational structure that is focused on divisions or geographic areas, thus enabling a stronger focus on local environments and sustainability. One of the first steps would be to reorganize the current functional structure and moving or hiring new managers for each of the new divisions.  The new divisional structure will enable more of a focus on the local environment, thus assisting managements in understanding how they can impact each demographic area.

In a meeting with managers, Charles and Ann need to introduce the new strategies. They know that 3 of the 7 current managers will be reluctant to change to the new organizational structure and strategy.   Charles and Ann need to consider what management strategies they will need to focus on how to get all the managers on board and they need to consider what management skills will be most needed to implement the new strategies.

Taking into consideration what you have learned the past few weeks on learning organizations, culture, and human capital, develop a strategy for leadership to use that will help management in their new roles and that will focus on the organizational vision and purpose.

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

For this week's discussion, you will again need to reflect on your negotiation history and identify a negotiation experience that you consider significant. You should be selecting a different negotiation experience for each week's discussion so that you are exploring many different scenarios and applying your growing understanding of strategic negotiation to those scenarios. For example, if you have been using family-based negotiation events in **Week 1** and **Week 2**, try using a professional (e.g., business or organization) negotiation for this week. You should not be using the same negotiation example each week.

For **the first paragraph** of your initial post, describe the negotiation event that you are using for this week's discussion, including the participants, the key issues, and the outcome.

For **the second part** of your initial post, evaluate any **one** of the following starter bullet points, using research on course concepts to support your analysis:

    – In the basic communication model, information is sent and received using channels. Apply the basic communication model to your negotiation model.
    – In what ways did each party function as a sender and a receiver?
    – What channels were used?
    – How did the use of nonverbal communication influence the negotiation?
    – What feedback methods were used, and how might have feedback been used to enhance negotiations?
    – Distractions and distortions (noise) can occur in the negotiation process.
    – What distortions were evident?
    – What were the sources of those distortions?
    – What other communication problems existed?
    – How did those distortions and problems impact the negotiation?
    – What could be done to correct those issues?
    – Questioning is a powerful communication tool and is also very effective in the negotiation process. Perceiving what questions to ask can often lead to more creative alternatives and to better solutions. For your situation, evaluate the questions that were asked.
    – Were they open ended?
    – Were they leading?
    – How did the questions impact the negotiation?
    – Did the question type (e.g., leading versus open ended) fit the negotiation context? Provide an example of how you might reword a question (e.g., change a leading question to an open-ended question) that occurred in your negotiation to support a more effective negotiation process.
    – Active listening is an important skill for leaders and negotiators. Being fully attentive to the other party and asking clarifying questions to ensure understanding are the primary skills. Evaluate the listening behaviors in your negotiation scenario.
    – Did either party use active listening?
    – Did either party use inattentive listening or manipulative listening?
    – What behaviors did you see that support your conclusions?
    – How did the listening skills displayed in the negotiation scenario influence the outcome?
    – Culture and gender increase the complexity of negotiation events.
    – How were cultural (either in a multicultural sense or a global sense) and gender factors evident in your example?
    – What do you wish you had known during the negotiation that you now know (e.g., based upon some research into the cultures of the parties present in the negotiation)?
    – How would you change your approach in future negotiations to account for cultural and gender concerns?
    – Power can be used in overt or subtle ways. Power can also be conceptualized as power from, power with, or power over.
    – How was power or leverage utilized in your negotiation?
    – What power bases were evident? Assess the ethical nature of how power was used.
    – How did power influence the outcome?
    – How might you build greater power in future negotiations?

**Conclude your posting** with a summary paragraph that synthesizes one or two key issues or points of your initial post.

    **Submission Details:**

    · Your initial post should be 1–2 pages (500–1,000 words) long. Cite any sources you use in APA format.

    – Each Covered Heading must contain 3+ credible cited sources and a conclusion summarizing talking points.

    · **Due by 2/27/25 at 10:30pm CST**

    **Requirements:**

    1. **Make certain to include in text citations from your course text in addition to your outside leadership resources within your main post. This adds credibility to your argument.**
