    **Literature Review Assignment Instructions**

    **Overview**

As a Ph.D. student, your final project will be a dissertation. The largest component of a dissertation is usually the Literature Review. A Literature Review is an exhaustive search of the academic literature regarding a specific topic. Through the research for the Literature Review, the scholar will discover what has been published and is current regarding their specific area. The Literature Review should also include a section regarding the theory that is applicable to the research question.

    **Instructions**

The student will write a 10–12-page Literature Review on a specific problem in criminal justice. It will not be a descriptive paper but must be one that critically examines the problems and the competing solutions. The student must make an argument about whether it is necessary. The paper must utilize at least 12 significant, scholarly resources that are significant to the topic (current, relevant, credible, and each carries its weight) with a clear and meaningful connection between all the resources. The paper must follow the current APA style. The paper should be 10-12 pages with a cover page, Research Questions, annotations, Bibliography, and any supporting documentation.

Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.

**Using APA formatting guidelines, in 2-3 pages, respond to questions 1 and 2 making sure to integrate the core value of integrity in the case study.**

    **Case Study:**

    **Bluffton Pharmacy, Part 2**

**How should the owners of a small pharmacy create a cash flow forecast for their business?**

It has been a little more than two years since Angela Crawford and Martin Rodriguez purchased the Bluffton Pharmacy from Frank White, the previous owner and founder, who had started the pharmacy in 1969. Although Crawford and Rodriguez have prepared budgets for Bluffton Pharmacy and have analyzed their financial statements using ratio analysis, they have not created a cash flow forecast. During a recent meeting, their banker explained the importance of reliable cash flow forecasts, telling them that banks traditionally are “cash flow lenders.” Bankers appreciate strong balance sheets and income statements, but they are most interested in a company’s cash flow because they know that positive cash flow is required to repay a loan.

Crawford and Rodriguez expect sales to increase 4.5 percent next year, to $2,504,368. Credit sales account for 79 percent of total sales, and the company’s collection pattern for credit sales is 11 percent in the same month in which the sale is generated, 63.5 percent in the first month after the sale is generated, and 22 percent in the second month after the sale is generated. The pharmacy’s cost of goods sold is 77.4 percent, and vendors grant “net 30” credit terms, which means the pharmacy pays for the goods it purchases every month in the following month. Crawford and Rodriguez have been working with their accountant to develop estimates for their expenses for the upcoming year (see the accompanying table on page 783).

Actual sales for the last two months, November and December, were $272,357 and $315,458. The company’s cash balance as of January 1 is $74,473. The interest rate on Bluffton Pharmacy’s current line of credit is 8.25%, and whatever the pharmacy borrows must be repaid the following month (with interest), even if it must borrow again in that month. The entrepreneurs have established a minimum cash balance of $15,000.

    **Questions**

    1) Develop a monthly cash budget for Bluffton Pharmacy for the upcoming year.

    2) What recommendations can you offer Angela Crawford and Martin Rodriguez to improve their pharmacy’s cash flow?

    Differentiating Instruction for Diverse Learners

In my classroom, I use a variety of strategies to differentiate my instruction and serve my learners. diverse needs. Without differentiation, all students no matter their ability level or background may participate in meaningful educational content (Kauchak & Eggen, 2012). Some of the key strategies I implement are:

    Filing Students:

Students are assigned to working groups based on their readiness level, interest or learning profile. This enables specified instruction to arise from within each group (Kauchak & Eggen, 2012). These groups are dynamic and evolve as students progress, ensuring that struggling learners receive support while advanced students are appropriately challenged.

    Multiple Ways of Representing:

According to Kauchak and Eggen (2012), students learn best when information is presented to them through multiple avenues. I slip in visual aids, hands-on activities, technology, and discussion opportunities to address different styles of learning. For example, I would use graphic organizers, interactive simulations, and videotapes when trying to get across key concepts.

    Choice Assignments Based on Ability:

When students are given different ways that they can demonstrate their learning, their levels of motivation and participation in classes go up (Kauchak & Eggen, 2012). In my classroom, students might opt to write an essay or create a visual presentation.

    Adaptive Referrals:

Because all learners hope to achieve a deeper understanding, scaffolding is necessary in differentiated instruction (Kauchak & Eggen, 2012). I provide sentence starters, guided notes, and student cooperation in the classroom to help students who struggle, while building rapport with advanced students who yearn for enrichment work.

    Culturally diverse Instruction:

If you acknowledge the cultural background of students and bull elements from different cultures into your teaching, you are fostering inclusive learning (Kauchak & Eggen, 2012). So, I select reading materials that reflect other cultures and encourage discussion among the students about their own experiences. As I employ these strapless plans supported by research in the field, I hope to establish an environment for learning where all students can indeed succeed. I'd like to hear your suggestions for further differentiation!

Create a formative assessment connected to the assessments used in your Lesson Plan Based on an IEP assignment. You may use bullet points for the slides. However, for the notes section, write in complete paragraphs. This assessment should be used for a whole class as well as the student you based the IEP on. Make sure to share the following concepts in your PowerPoint presentation:

    – Briefly review your lesson plan based on your IEP assignment
    – Explain the assessment that supplements your lesson plan based on your IEP assignment
    – Dedicate a slide to your IEP student reviewing the student and explaining how they will demonstrate success in this assessment.
    – Include an example of the assessment that supplements this lesson plan
    – Explain how you know where the learners were before the assessment
    – Share where you want the learners to progress after the assessment, and using integrated research support how you plan to keep them moving towards that target.
