Patient falls are a nationally recognized safety and quality problem that pose serious
consequences for patients and healthcare systems across the United States. National
surveillance data show that approximately one in four adults aged 65 years and older—over
14 million individuals—experience a fall each year, with more than one-third requiring
medical attention or hospitalization, and nearly 40,000 deaths annually attributed to fall-
related injuries (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2024). Research within acute-
care hospitals reveals that fall rates range from 1 to 9 per 1,000 patient days, with nearly
half resulting in injuries such as fractures or head trauma (Heikkilä & Lehtonen, 2024).
Quantitative studies demonstrate that evidence-based nursing interventions—such as
education, environmental modification, and hourly rounding—significantly reduce fall
incidence and injury severity (Montejano-Lozoya et al., 2020). Predictive modeling has also
been eWective in identifying high-risk patients, allowing early intervention and prevention
(Wang et al., 2023). Mortality and long-term disability from falls contribute to increased
hospital length of stay and readmission rates, further escalating costs (Dykes et al., 2023).
Economically, inpatient falls cost an average of $62,521 per event, while nationwide
spending for nonfatal falls among older adults reached $80 billion in 2020, primarily funded
by Medicare and Medicaid (Haddad et al., 2024). Non-research evidence from the World
Health Organization (2021) underscores the global and national significance of falls as the
second leading cause of unintentional injury deaths. Collectively, this synthesis of
empirical and national data demonstrates that patient falls are highly prevalent, costly, and
often preventable, underscoring their classification as a major national healthcare and
    patient safety priority.

    Shared Writing: Psychological Disorders

One of your authors once attended a training session where the instructor shared that they did not believe in the DSM or in using diagnoses. This person believed that diagnoses were much like rumors in that they had the potential to lead toward specific beliefs and assumptions about a person. And like rumors, they may also lead to negative biases. Rumors aside, what are some ways that psychological diagnoses may inadvertently lead to prejudice? In extreme cases, how might they lead to discrimination? Are there any specific diagnoses that may be more prone to negative biases, particularly by those not familiar with psychology?

    **## AssignmentInstructionsandRubric.docx**

    Purpose

From your first assignment, you have a job description that details the important tasks and duties and KSAOs for the job you analyzed.  You will use that job title and job description for this assignment.

For Assignment 2, you will demonstrate your understanding of job evaluation and pricing jobs in three parts.

    Part 1

    **Steps to Completion**

    1. Review the job description and determine the occupational classification of the job.  The best place to start is:
    [O*Net](https://www.onetonline.org/)

    2. Find at least 4 other jobs in that occupational classification that are similar to your job description.  Write down those job titles.

    3. Identify at least 3 compensable factors if you were to do a point factor job evaluation.  For each of those compensable factors, write out the levels for the factor and assign points for the different levels.  Week 4 power point, slide 6, gives you an example of the levels and points for Working Conditions.

**NOTE: DO NOT USE WORKING CONDITIONS FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT**.  You can use the following suggested table format.  First, make sure you provide a clear concise description of the compensable factor. For each level, make sure you provide a clear concise description of the level.  With three factors, you will have 3 of these tables.

    | | | |
    | — | — | — |
    | COMPENSABLE FACTOR 1: |
    | LEVEL | DESCRIPTION | POINTS |
    | | | |
    | | | |
    | | | |
    | | | |
    | | | |

    4. For each of the five jobs, you are to assign points for EACH of the 3 factors.

    5. Total across each of the 3 factors for each job.

You can use the following table for steps 4 and 5:

    | | | | | | |
    | — | — | — | — | — | — |
    | Factor | JOB A | JOB B | JOB C | JOB D | JOB E |
    | e.g. Working Conditions | | | | | |
    | FACTOR 2 | | | | | |
    | FACTOR 3 | | | | | |
    | TOTAL POINTS | | | | | |

    6. Prepare a 2-3 page discussion of the purpose and methods of job evaluation, the method that was used in this exercise, your findings, and the rank order of these jobs in terms of the points Discuss and explain whether you find the results to be reasonable and what other factors you could have used in the job evaluation.  Be sure to use proper citations and references

    Part 2

    **Steps to Completion**

    1. For the job that you use in Assignment 1, determine the market rate and explain how you arrived at that market rate.

    2. For the job that you used in Assignment 1, set up a compensation structure with the following elements:

    · How many steps will you have for the job.

    · What is the rate range for the job

    · What is the rate for each step.

    3. Discuss and explain, in 1-2 pages how you determined the market rate, the number of steps you would use, the rate range, and the rate for each step.

    Part 3

Below is the GS Salary Table for the federal government.  Answer the following:

    1. What is the rate range for Grade 4?

    2. What is the rate range for Grade 5?

    3. What is the percentage grade overlap between Grade 4 and Grade 5?

    4. What is the rate range for Grade 14?

    5. What is the rate range for Grade 15?

    6. What is the percentage grade overlap between Grade 14 and Grade 15?

    7. Are the percentage overlaps between grades 4 and 5 the same as between grades14 and 15?  What are the implications if the percentage overlap are not the same – what does it say for grades 4 and 5 and what does it say for grades 14 and 15?
