    1. Applications: Digital badges are credentials that may be used on social media sites,
used to enhance a digital resume, and embedded into an e-portfolio (University of
Buffalo, 2024). This can be beneficial as new graduates enter the workforce and provide
    a verifiable certificate demonstrating proficiency.

    2. Considerations: According to Farmer & West (2016), open badging faces the
challenge of being recognized outside of its native badging ecosystem, which can be
local in nature or global and intended to be displayed beyond one's own community.
The authors note that creating a global badging ecosystem requires all organizations
within that system to recognize and accept the badge performance and assessment.

    3. Impact: According to Rutgers University (2024), digital certificates and
microcrednetial programs break down learning into smaller components that may align
with the interests of prospective employers and educational programs with verifiable
assessments for measuring learning outcomes. These digital certificates replace paper
certificates, signifying the completion of a learning program.

    4. Services: Some key considerations include the type of platform and the associated
cost. These may be the two most important factors depending on the organization's
size. Other features vary widely based on the platform and may be tailored to a specific
population or target. Additionally, some badge platforms offer onboarding programs and
easy-to-use user interfaces, which can increase large-scale adoption (Aronovich (2022).

    5. Innovation Phase: The following graph illustrates a point between the Peak of
Inflated Expectations and the Trough of Disillusionment. However, according to a recent
report from Sılaoğlu (2021), the scope of smart badges will expand as new technologies
    emerge and mature.

    **## EXAMPLE1.pdf**

    Applications:

In the K-12 education system, digital badging is used as a way to show expertise in an
area. For example, I see a lot of Google Certifications, Adobe Certifications, etc. It can
show other teachers you have obtained extra knowledge in this area. For teachers, it is
a good thing to have after their names so that other teachers who may have questions
feel more comfortable asking someone with a badge.

    Considerations:

Digital badging can promote lifelong learning, but it can also create distractions and
egos. In the education system, there tends to be internal competition. States usually
require teachers to obtain a certain amount of PD hours each year, and many school
districts rely on internal staff to help share and turnkey sessions for the rest of the staff.
When the digital badge becomes the focus of a teacher’s time, it is a distraction.

On the other hand, it might be beneficial to have each teacher pick a digital badge each
year to obtain. The digital badge helps to show stakeholders within the district that the
staff is staying current on various platforms.

    Impact:

The impact of multiple digital badges could be positive if the staff positively views the
badges.  The badge helps to ensure transparency and improves communication. When
a co-worker has the badge, there is no question the person knows about the content of
    the badge.

The criteria to obtain the badge are consistent so that if two people have the same
badge, they both probably have the same content knowledge about the program.

School districts can customize some of the badges, which helps to unite the staff and
empowers the teachers to feel valued by the district.

However, in many cases, teachers don’t always get along, and it could become an us –
v – them kind of situation. Those for digital badging might become collectors of the
    badges.

    Services:

Programs like Badgr help to ensure that those who show the badge have actually
earned the badge. It allows companies to customize the digital badge, but the program
also has verification processes that allow the company to feel secure in knowing that
everyone who shows the badge actually earned it. What is extremely useful is that this
program can also track the use of the badge by each employee. Companies might want
to know how often the program is used and how often the various sections of a program
are used. Badgr helps to keep track of those areas used and then help a company to
understand which programs would serve the employees best.

Another company is Canvas, and it can collect data on students and teachers to help
guide technology and instruction. Canvas, among other digital badging platforms, helps

to offer an alternative (other than grades and degrees) acknowledgment for
    achievements (Concentric Sky. 2020).

    Innovation:

Of the five key phases of digital badges, I would say they are currently under the slope
of enlightenment. I say this because the general understanding of technology is starting
to catch up to the general public's understanding of it.   The infographic below shows
how the data collected supports the idea that employees want to learn and that they
enjoy being recognized. The data also shows that no one is making any complaints
about the technology. Employers could start to use digital badging as a way to help
narrow the search for filling administration roles.

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

This week you are leaning about the hypothesis testing method in statistics. This process starts out by stating the null and alternative hypotheses. Review the terms in **https://lc.gcumedia.com/hlt362v/the-visual-learner/statistics.html**, to answer these questions.

Think of a research study that you would like to conduct at your current or future place of employment. In designing your research question, describe the null and alternative hypotheses. What would type I and type II errors look like in this hypothetical situation? Identify if this was a one-tailed or a two-tailed test?

Example: It is hypothesized that a follow-up phone call 2 weeks after discharge will improve patient compliance with the aftercare protocol.

Null Hypothesis: Communication with the patient 2 weeks after discharge will not change the compliance of patient aftercare protocol.

Alternative Hypothesis: Communication with the patient 2 weeks after discharge will improve compliance of patient aftercare protocol.

Type I Error: A type I error could occur if the data suggest an effect of the postdischarge phone call when there was not improvement in compliance of the aftercare protocol.

Type II Error: A type II error could have occurred if the data suggest that there was no improvement in compliance of the aftercare protocol when in fact there was an improvement.

One- or Two-Tailed Test: This is a one-tailed test because the researchers are predicting an increase in compliance of the aftercare protocol.

Initial discussion question posts should be a minimum of 200 words and include at least two references cited using APA format.

Simulon Defense Industries Benefits Exercise (C)

Simulon is a publicly-owned defense manufacturer headquartered in Nashville, TN,
with approximately 20,000 employees, 10,000 of whom are unionized. The company is
structured functionally and has divisions such as finance, manufacturing, marketing,
human resources, etc. The company has a CEO, six vice-presidents, and thirteen
directors. All are considered “executives.” The average employee wage is $60,000 per
year. Executive pay ranges from $350,000 per year for some directors to $750,000 per
year for the CEO. Company revenue last year was approximately $1.6 billion. The
stock is currently selling at about $50 per share, and profits are about 8% of revenue.
Half of the workforce is unionized. The hourly workforce has a major medical plan
negotiated by the union. Salaried, exempt employees are covered under a separate
health plan self-insured by the company.

Recently the Company’s Board of Directors was presented with a request from the CEO
to implement an executive health evaluation at the Duke University Medical Center in
Durham, NC, to ensure the good health of company executives who are crucial to the
company’s continued success. The comprehensive evaluation, which would be
available to executives annually, would consist of a medical history review, complete
cardio-pulmonary evaluation, comprehensive lab analysis and blood profile, nutritional
and lifestyle assessment, fitness assessment, and a personalized report and review
with a personal executive health physician. Full-body imaging services would also be
available if desired. While costs cannot always be determined in advance and will vary
based on age, gender, personal and family history, symptoms, and high-risk factors, it is
estimated that the cost of the two-day physical would be around $4,000 per executive,
excluding the costs for travel, lodging, and food. Because this more-comprehensive
health evaluation plan is intended only for executives, it cannot be covered by the
company’s major medical plan for salaried, exempt employees as it would be
considered discriminatory. These benefits could not be offered to all employees under
the major medical plan because the cost would be prohibitive.

A member of the Board asked how the cost of the program would be covered. The CEO
responded that the total annual cost for the health evaluation itself would be only
$80,000 and could easily be recovered by increasing medical premiums for all hourly
employees by only $10 per year. Including travel, the costs might double. In his words,
“Such an increase would be imperceptible to employees.” He went on, “However, we
can’t do that because of the union agreement. We would have to negotiate the increase
and update the union contract, and they would never agree to it. Therefore, I propose
that we change the current cost-sharing ratio and increase the premiums for the
salaried employees under the company’s major medical plan. The cost would be the
same — an increase in their medical premiums of less than $20 per year if we wanted to

cover all costs. This would be in addition to the annual increase resulting from increases
    in healthcare costs.”

The board said they would take the CEO’s recommendation under consideration.

    Questions:

    1. Are annual executive health evaluations of this type a good idea for protecting
    a company’s executive talent?

    2. What legislation governs employee healthcare plans? How does it impact this
    situation?

    3. Who are the primary and secondary stakeholders in this decision? Distinguish
    between the two.

    4. What are the potential consequences or outcomes for each primary
stakeholder in this situation? Be specific!

    5. Are there any ethical issues involved in this situation? If so, what are they?
    6. Should the Board approve the CEO’s proposal as presented? Why or why

    not?
    7. Which ethical approach guided your decision (utilitarian, rights, justice,

common good, duty, virtue)? Explain how the approach guided your decision.
    8. What other options could be considered for funding the CEO’s proposal?

While these questions should be addressed in your analysis, DO NOT merely
respond to the questions presented above. Your submitted assignment should
address these questions as part of an integrated essay or report. The title page,
headings, citations, and references should be consistent with the APA Manual (7th
    edition).

considered discriminatory.
